Lay Offs in Teaching?

I'm starting to feel a bit worried about becoming a teacher next year. There's been a lot of talk about layoffs to make up for the 10% budget cut that our governor has proposed. All this work and I might not even be able to get a job next year. I really hope that doesn't happen. :(

So far I have only heard of the layoffs being in OC, but I guess they could expand. The news reported that they were laying off 1200 in OC alone, but the teachers have to potential to be rehired. Seriously, something MUST be done. I mean, we can't lay off teachers and increase class size even more!!! It's already insane to have 30-40 kids per teacher anyway.

I heard on the news that the governor said that the layoffs could be negotiated. Hopefully some strong negotiations happen soon. Teachers are molding our future leaders...we need good ones in place!!!

Plus, I gave you that link to my mom's school district. They are hiring right now.
